Jeff Doose, General Partner, Adena Ventures

Doose is a Partner of Adena Ventures and a member of the fund’s investment committee. He serves on the Boards of Directors of BestTransport, Inc. and Visum, Inc.

For the past 24 years, Doose’s career has included roles as an entrepreneur, venture capitalist and college professor. He has managed a venture capital fund and worked in high growth enterprises, development banks, and educational institutions in rural development contexts as diverse as the Mississippi Delta, the Ouachita Mountains of Arkansas and Native American communities in Minnesota.

Doose holds degrees from Southwest State University (BA), the University of Colorado (MA) and the University of Denver (JD).

Matthew McCue, Vice President, Hopewell Ventures

McCue joined Hopewell in 2002. His primary responsibilities include the identification and evaluation of investment opportunities, market and industry analyses, pro forma financial modeling, transaction structuring and documentation. He also provides various support activities for Hopewell’s portfolio companies. He is a member of the Board of Directors of VHT, and holds observation rights at Helios, NPE and InStadium. Prior to joining the team, McCue was the founder of a vehicle for the development of seed-stage businesses, and provided operational and business development support for a growing Chicago-based chain of restaurants. He holds a B.A. in Economics Magna Cum Laude from Loyola University Chicago and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.

William Sutter, Jr., Senior Managing Director, Hopewell Ventures

Sutter has been an active investor in private equity for more than 20 years. After starting his career in corporate finance with Smith Barney, he joined Mesirow Financial in 1984 as the second member of its Private Equity Investments division.

As Senior Managing Director, Mr. Sutter was responsible for all aspects of private equity activity, including deal flow development, investment analysis, due diligence investigation, transaction structure and negotiation, and portfolio management. During his tenure, Mesirow’s investment capital grew from $20 million to more than $300 million, comprised of seven limited partnership funds. He led investments totaling over $100 million in more than 25 portfolio companies, including four that completed an IPO. He continues to serve as an independent director on the board of Regent Communications, a publicly-traded radio broadcaster.

Sutter graduated cum laude from Yale University with a Bachelor’s in economics and earned his MBA from Stanford University. Since 2001, he has served as an Adjunct Professor of Finance at the Kellogg Graduate School of Management, teaching courses in private equity and entrepreneurship.
