New Developments in Display Technologies mean Cost Savings in Simulation, Changing Market Demand.” “Displays have not undergone the same technical revolution as other aspects of computing. Even today, display resolutions beyond high-definition (HD) are sufficiently expensive and complex that only select companies and industries have access to them. Many ask how this lower cost can be obtained. The answer is through software that uses cameras to automatically align multiple projectors into a single, seamless display of unlimited resolution, size, and form. In doing this, software is able to compose new display landscapes out of many off-the-shelf displays. This allows any resolution, form-factor, and size to be achieved at relatively low-cost. Displays can be constructed with little expertise and can be easily reconfigured as needed. The next step in this evolution is to redefine how these display landscapes can be used.
