How many different types of meeting spaces are available at your workplace? When I think about Mersive, there are your standard conference rooms – both large and small, smaller huddle rooms, open huddle and collaboration spaces, lounges and transitional areas, meeting spaces within individual offices, some privacy pods, and plenty of inviting open spaces in our kitchens and other areas to collaborate and mingle with colleagues.

You may have a similar mix of meeting spaces in your own workplace. With the increase in remote and hybrid communication and collaboration, there is a growing need to ensure that all of these different types of meeting spaces are outfitted with video conferencing, enabling workers to easily connect to remote meeting participants from any meeting space.

It’s also become increasingly clear that traditional room systems aren’t the right solution for many of these meeting spaces. Where a Microsoft Teams or Zoom Room setup may make sense in certain conference rooms, they are likely not the right solution for many of the other meeting space types. And – even in the conference rooms – there may still be a need to connect to calls from video conferencing services other than those provided through the dedicated room system.

Solstice represents a flexible solution to fit within all types of meeting spaces, providing a ‘Bring Your Own Meeting’ (BYOM) solution that can be used as a standalone room system or as a component of a dedicated room system experience.

As you plan your return to work strategy and evaluate your meeting spaces, Solstice can provide best-in-class wireless collaboration and room video conferencing connectivity by wirelessly connecting your conferencing application of choice running your laptop to the room display and audio/video peripherals. Below are several examples of how your workplace can prioritize BYOM solutions to provide flexible options for your meeting spaces and employees – and the extra value that Solstice can bring to these spaces.

5 Benefits of Mersive Solstice

1.  Solstice adds interoperability to the dedicated room system experience.

By adding a Solstice Pod to an existing room system, users can make use of that room for conferencing outside of the specific room system vendor. For example, you may have Microsoft Teams Rooms at your workplace. By adding Solstice Conference to the Microsoft Teams Rooms, if you and your team are invited to a Zoom call, you can enter the Microsoft Teams Room with your laptop and take advantage of the room technology by launching Zoom directly on your laptop.

While other approaches to interoperability exist, most require complex cloud-infrastructure and expense, or deliver an inconsistent user experience. Solstice Conference interoperability allows users to use the device and interface they are familiar with, while still leveraging the dedicated room audio and video.

2.  Solstice provides a consistent BYOM user experience across all room types.

Solstice Conference can provide a standalone video conferencing experience in spaces that do not justify a dedicated room system. Areas where ad hoc proximate collaboration is important – such as small meeting rooms, huddle spaces, lounges, and transitional spaces – can be upgraded with a display and camera, enabling the hybrid workplace.

However, users who experience BYOM in those spaces need to be provided the same experience in their dedicated video rooms as well. By adding Solstice to those rooms, users who are accustomed to BYOM in some of their spaces will be able to make use of the same workflow, on-demand, in all their video-enabled rooms, creating a uniform, flexible user experience.

3.  Adding BYOM to a dedicated room provides user choice.

While some conferencing calls may not involve a users’ device and the dedicated room provides a simple interface to launch the next call, many users prefer to use their own devices and the conferencing applications on their laptop to launch and control a meeting. This eliminates shared touch points, providing users with a hygienic solution to launch and join meetings, while also enabling them to use the device and preferred video conferencing applications that they are most familiar with. Regardless of the conferencing software, the software the user is familiar with can be used in the dedicated room – even if it doesn’t match the room vendor (i.e. hosting a Zoom meeting in a Microsoft Teams Room).

4.  Solstice provides key features to existing rooms.

Solstice’s powerful wireless content sharing platform provides intuitive content sharing and collaboration that cannot be matched by the dedicated room systems on the market – including Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Webex, and others. With robust multi-participant content sharing, content control and layout features, and wireless markup, Solstice provides a full suite of content collaboration capabilities that enable presentations, comparative analysis, video streaming, and more.

While single-vendor video conferencing platforms often try to fit collaboration into their presentation-centric conferencing platforms, Solstice instead brings video conferencing into the collaboration environment, prioritizing human-centered collaboration and enabling more productive and engaging meetings for both onsite and remote participants.

Solstice also provides digital signage, emergency messaging, customizable on-screen messaging that goes beyond dedicated room systems, and even automatic room booking. These features can be delivered within the dedicated room context without disrupting the use of the dedicated room system.

5.  Solstice provides deeper analytics beyond a single vendor.

By adding Solstice to an existing room, workplace analytics related to call volume, meeting quality, duration, technologies used, meeting type, location, and software used to support the conference are all part of a rich analytics dataset that can help drive decisions, room optimization, and future real estate, meeting space, and facilities planning. Importantly, this data provides a view beyond a single vendor – allowing managers to understand video conferencing adoption trends (e.g., Microsoft Teams versus Zoom or Webex), and how those usage patterns correlate to meeting success and ROI.
