Mersive, a leading provider of visual computing software today announced the immediate availability of Solstice Display Software 1.1, a wireless visual collaboration solution. The newest version of Solstice includes three key features: the addition of Android devices and Windows 8 to Solstice’s supported clients; the highly-anticipated Podium Mode, giving meeting presenters, moderators and teachers new controls for Solstice sessions; and the ability to integrate with external video sources such as AppleTV and video conferencing systems.
“Managing and integrating BYOD in the conference room setting has been a challenge and limited the level of visual collaboration among teams. That is, until we introduced Solstice earlier this year,” said Christopher Jaynes, Mersive founder and chief technology officer. “The enhancements we have made to Solstice extends our support for wireless collaboration in conference and meeting rooms and further demonstrates the flexibility of our software based solution when compared to legacy hardware centric products.”
Solstice software enables multiple users to connect simultaneously to a shared display using laptops and mobile devices on an existing WiFi or Ethernet network. With Solstice, anyone can walk into a meeting room and instantly connect, share and control the display fostering collaboration and decision making.
The new features in the latest release include:
- Additional Client Compatibility: Solstice now supports Android devices and Windows 8 laptops and tablets. These devices are in addition to Windows7 laptops/tablets, iPods, iPads and iPhones.
- Enhanced User Settings: In the initial version of Solstice everyone connected to the display is given equal rights to move anyone else’s posts around on the display. This feature remains, and now an additional option for ‘Podium mode’ has been added which empowers one participant to take the lead and control the session. This is particularly useful in presentation settings such as a large meeting or for teaching.
- Option to Integrate External Video Sources: Using the Live Sources feature, users can include feeds from any video source attached to the computer that is connected to the display, such as AppleTV or video conferencing equipment.
Mersive is offering a free 30-day trial of the Solstice Display Software, which needs to be installed on a Windows computer that is connected to a display. Solstice is display agnostic; it can work with any type of display including projectors and flat panels. To get a free trial, visit www.mersive.com/solstice and select Free 30-Day Trial.
