Winning “Best of” Award – A Catalyst for Reflection

Winning “Best of” Award – A Catalyst for ReflectionI’ve found a quiet spot off the InfoComm 2015 show floor for a quick post about the “Best of InfoComm” awards. It looks like we’ve won Best Product in the Collaboration category again for the second year in a row. In part, I think

winning an award like this is as much about the quality of the product as it is about market timing – I’ve been around long enough to know that timing is probably every bit as big of a factor in the success of Solstice. For me and the team at Mersive, there really isn’t anything much better in your professional life than to be acknowledged by your colleagues. So – thanks to the editors at Commercial Integrator and the panel of esteemed judges. But, this post isn’t an acceptance speech. I wanted to try and provide some perspective on why I think a relatively small company like Mersive has been able to win the award in consecutive years.

So, towards that end I asked Rob Balgley, our CEO, to write a bit about his own reaction to the award and some perspective on the market.

Here’s what he offered:

The market opportunity for collaborative solutions couldn’t be any bigger – and it’s moving at a rate of speed that is literally breathtaking. Mersive’s ability to capitalize is largely due to two things – the speed with which we can respond to customer feedback and the A/V channel’s support for a software based solution such as Solstice. On the first point, our software architecture gives us a huge advantage in a market that is both nascent and where the use case spans virtually every vertical market and from small business to the largest corporations and educational institutions. As a result we can move fast to meet ongoing requirements yet build products that are both powerful and easy to use. Regarding the second point, the channel’s enthusiasm for a software based product is the part of our success that has been the most gratifying for us – convergence between A/V and IT is not just a pipe dream – it’s in full flight with our resellers and integrators. Our partner’s aspirations for Solstice and the creativity they demonstrate in supporting their customer’s collaboration uses case is an inspiration to all of us here.

Lastly, we know that this award is just a step along the way – there’s lots more work to do on Solstice and a lot more conference rooms and classrooms out there that need to cut the cable!
