The challenge
George Mason set a target for Horizon Hall: at least 30% of classrooms supporting active-learning pedagogy. That demanded wireless sharing, BYOD from any device, technology needing little to no training, and security and scalability on the university network.
The deployment
Working with Convergent Technologies Design Group, GMU placed 165 Pods across 28 classrooms, 15 collaboration spaces, 9 conference rooms, 8 huddle spaces and the transitional spaces between them, in a six-floor building opened in January 2021.
Behind every display in this building, there is a Solstice Pod. It's supporting the teaching and learning here, the meeting rooms, and the informal spaces outside the classrooms.
The outcome
Touchless collaboration throughout the building on one standard: faculty and students share from any device with little to no training. The integrator credits the simple, familiar interface and the fact that Solstice was already a known quantity on campus.
