What Essentials doth

The workspace entire. Naught to install.

Essentials is no lesser tier, nor a reduced build: it runneth the selfsame Polaris software as Pro. Every difference betwixt the two is the chassis, not the platform: memory setteth the ceiling of shares at 5 instead of 10, and with no USB input there is no room camera to bridge, so wireless BYOM and Link are Pro capabilities, not a licence away. The same workspace, the same cloud, the same posture of security. Every capability below shippeth today.

The whole workspace of many shares

Live sources composed side by side upon the display, compared, annotated, rearranged from any seat, laid out of themselves as sources join and depart, as many as 5 here, 10 upon Pro. The selfsame workspace Pro runneth, so a mingled fleet is never a mingled experience.

Wherefore the workspace prevaileth

Web-join: naught to install

Share from the browser upon the device thou camest in with, Chromebooks withal. No client, no admin rights, no drawer of dongles.

How web-join doth work

Native AirPlay, Miracast and Google Cast

The paths of casting thy devices already speak, built within: users of Apple, Windows, and Chromebook share natively upon the LAN with no Mersive software at all, and every share alighteth upon the same workspace, side by side.

How the paths of casting do work

Governed by Polaris Cloud

Every Essentials room joineth the selfsame fleet pane as the rest of the fleet: analytics, firmware, alerts, health, and idle-screen signage, all from one login.

Explore thou the cloud
Security

The device, too, is tested, and by another hand.

Certifications bounded to a cloud say naught of the box upon the wall, so the box hath its own proof. Two outside firms have had at it: one over the network, one with the lid off, and the smaller unit was within scope in its own right.

An independent scan · July 2026

No network attack surface worthy of the name

An outside firm did scan a managed Pod. The ports that answer are the casting and appliance functions, and no persistent media listener could be enumerated at all; the path of real-time media useth ephemeral UDP ports, one set per session, that answer only after ICE consent. There standeth no media service in the room to be probed.

An independent physical assault · May 2025

Both units opened, probed, and both held fast

The hardware went further than a scan, and the smaller unit was within scope in its own right: a firm took a Gen 4 Pod and a Gen 4 Pod Mini in hand, opened them and assailed the hardware: UART and JTAG upon the debug headers, an attempt to lift the firmware off the flash, a man-in-the-middle in the lab. No critical, high, medium or low-severity vulnerabilities were found upon either device. Root login over the debug interface is refused outright, with no password prompt so much as offered; the firmware could not be drawn out; and no personally identifiable information was found stored upon either unit.

Upon the device

Secure boot, keys under seal, an allowlist and 802.1X

Secure boot is required upon production firmware. The device's own identity keys are sealed within an NXP SE050 secure element, the selfsame part as Pro. USB access is by allowlist. 802.1X with EAP-TLS maketh the room a citizen of the first rank in thy NAC, not an exception within it.

The company, and eke the cloud

ISO/IEC 27001:2022 · SOC 2 Type 2

Mersive is ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certified, with no nonconformities raised at the June 2026 surveillance audit, and the Polaris cloud unto which this Essentials unit reporteth is SOC 2 Type 2 attested.

Their caveat, which we keep: this maketh not compromise impossible, but it would require an adversary of great skill and effort. The whole architecture, every statement of scope and the audit's findings: the Trust Center.

Web-join from the browser: no app, no download withal✓
Native AirPlay · Miracast · Google Cast (upon the LAN)✓ all three, built within: cast from Apple, Windows and Chromebook devices upon the room's network with naught installed
Sharing on the move · phones and tablets✓ the Polaris app for iOS and Android: share thy screen, thy pictures or a live whiteboard, and command the workspace from thy seat

802.1X authentication upon the network✓ shipping. The data sheet listeth wireless security as WPA2, WPA2 Enterprise or IEEE 802.1X — so an Essentials room proveth itself to thy NAC with a certificate even as a Pro room doth.
Sharing across networks (no VPN)✓ included on every Polaris tier. Direct connections, brokered by the cloud; signalling goeth outbound only, TLS on TCP 443, so there be no inbound firewall rules to beg for, and no VPN
Security of the airwavesWEP, WPA2, WPA2 Enterprise, or else IEEE 802.1X
Interfaces of the network1× 10/100/1000 RJ-45 (Realtek RTL8211F gigabit PHY), no PoE; MediaTek MT7921: Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax, 2.4 + 5 GHz, 2×2 MIMO; and Bluetooth (MediaTek MT7921)

Encryption whilst in transitSignalling and governance of the fleet run outbound over HTTPS unto Polaris Cloud. The device exposeth no TLS listener of its own, so a port scan of the Mini findeth naught to negotiate against — the encryption that mattereth is upon the outbound leg, not upon an open port in thy room
Secure boot · a secure element✓ secure boot is required upon production firmware, and no mere setting; the NXP SE050 secure element aboard holdeth the device's own keys of identity and update verification in hardware — the selfsame part as Pro. The secure-element build assigneth an I²C bus to each machine and faileth the build outright for any machine it handleth not, so every shipping unit, the Mini withal, hath one
A supply chain true to TAA✓ built with Advantech in Taiwan, a land designated by TAA, the bare printed circuit board being the only item in the build sourced from China
Signed updates, no downgrade — and a rollback of its own accord should a load fail✓ the selfsame firmware mechanism as Pro, for it is the selfsame distro: update packages are tried for authenticity and integrity ere they be applied, and a downgrade to an earlier version is refused, whilst two firmware partitions mean a load that faileth to rise returneth to the last version known to be good
An OS of hardened Linux✓ a Linux made for this purpose and pared to the bone at the display: no Windows attack surface, no desktop for general use
Physical: a Kensington Nano Security Slot✓ upon the chassis
Protection of content✓ HDCP 2.0

Questions oft asked

Polaris Essentials, answered plain.

Doth Polaris Essentials run the selfsame software as Polaris Pro?

Aye. Essentials runneth the selfsame Polaris software as Pro: the same workspace, the same cloud, the same posture of security. The differences are the chassis, not the platform.

Compare thou the Polaris family.

How many souls may share at once upon Polaris Essentials?

Some 5 live sources, composed side by side and laid out of themselves as sources join and depart. The ceiling is memory upon the smaller chassis, not a licence nor a reduced build.

Doth Polaris Essentials uphold wireless BYOM or Polaris Link?

Nay, and 'tis a limit of the chassis, not of licence. True wireless BYOM bridgeth the room's own camera and mic into the call, so the peripherals must be attached unto the pod. The Mini chassis hath no USB input. Link is a bridge of software betwixt the laptop in BYOM and the Pro, and the Pro is what ruleth the room's cameras and peripherals. That is wherefore Link requireth a Pro.

Behold Polaris Pro.

How many displays may Polaris Essentials drive?

One. Polaris Essentials driveth a single display, at DCI 4K, 4096 x 2160, at 30 Hz; Polaris Pro ingesteth and driveth two.

May a guest share from another network without a VPN?

Aye. Sharing across networks is included upon every Polaris tier, Essentials withal. Direct connections brokered by the cloud, with TLS signalling outbound only on TCP 443: no VPN, and no inbound firewall rule.

Behold the architecture.

When a room outgroweth Essentials: Polaris Pro addeth conferencing by true wireless BYOM, HDMI input and twin 4K60 output: the same platform, the same habit of hand, so stepping up is the swap of a pod, not a forklift. Sharing across networks is upon both. Step up unto Pro →
